Many are becoming desensitized to school shootings, including some Bulldogs.
The number of people that are currently becoming desensitized towards school shootings is rising. In the last few years, it seems like people have become indifferent towards the violence that has taken place. According to Statista, an online platform that specializes in data gathering and visualization of multiple topics, a little over 1,000 school shootings have occurred in the last four years, and it's starting to feel like it happens constantly. For instance, when the Minnesota school shooting took place in August of 2025, many people didn't even hear about it. Or were ever aware
A large number of people tend to blame this on the school's safety systems that are in place. They feel that the schools should increase their efforts towards the students and teachers' safety. According to Angeline Lopez, a Junior at SCHS, “the school district of Osceola County attempted to increase safety by adding extra school resource officers, taking threats seriously and caring more about school safety.” This demonstrates that schools can make better efforts towards their safety.
The way school shootings can impact someone's life is somber and heartbreaking. However, due to how frequently they tend to happen, people don't seem to be affected by them because they either don't have kids that particular school or don't have kids at all. however, both students and teachers are at risk every day. People at home can also endure the loss of their child or family members. Things have changed, though, and in the future people might not even bat an eye anymore
News like this tends to be all-over social media. However, the spread of their particular events seems to be declining. It's rarely on the news.
Many individuals have expressed their feelings and emotions on how bad it is getting, and many influences have come to social media to speak up and let people be aware. A lot of people agree but others just look and don't give it attention anymore.
