Spirit week at SCHS took place September 16th through the 20th. Was spirit week a resounding success or a disappointing flop? Below are the week's best and worst moments.
Spirit week is the week leading up to the Homecoming dance. It is when students dress up to the themes given. Students love participating in spirit week, but many had their favorites.
The first day of spirit Monday was twin day. This is when you match with a friend as twins. This year there were a lot of students twinning as Subway Surfers, Minions, and Mario and Luigi. Camelia Diaz, a student at SCHS, who participated in spirit week stated, “Twin day was my favorite day because I got to do it with my friend and our outfits were super cute, and we got to a lot of take pictures.”
Tuesday was tacky tourist day. Tacky tourist is a cool theme because students can dress a little beachy but somewhat nerdy. Not as many people participated this day in comparison to other spirit days but, it was still a lot of fun to see everyone with high socks and crazy hats.
Wednesday was jersey day, on this day, students can put on their favorite jersey, or dress like jersey shore. It was nice to see the various countries being represented as well. From the Caribbeans to South America.
Thursday was celebrity day, which was the most participated theme throughout the week. It was basically, like Halloween but at school, Michelle Audrey, student at SCHS and someone who actively participated in spirit week stated, “I laughed a lot because many dressed up as Mr. Worldwide or as you know him Pitbull, and Adam Sandler.”
Friday was color wars. This day every grade level was given a color. Freshman had the color white, Sophomores wore yellow, Juniors had the color maroon, and seniors wore the color black. At the end of the day, it was the pep rally. And that’s why Camila Cardozo a student in SCHS, enjoyed Friday the most, because of the pep rally, she said that, “I got to hang out and have fun with my friends at the pep rally.”
Everyone had their different opinions about their favorite days and least favorites days but one thing they all said was that spirit week was an entertaining week because it brought joy and fun to the school.
