Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Forensics is the new science class at St. Cloud High School for the 24-25 school year. Including vastly different policies and academics.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The forensics class consists of various sciences such as DNA technology, Chemistry, Psychology, and Biology. There are also various concepts and topics taught each week that mostly involve the 7 Sā€™s. The 7 Sā€™s is the process of investigating crime scenes in forensic science. The steps are to secure the scene, separate the witness, scan the scene, see the scene, sketch the scene, search for evidence, secure and collect evidence. According to Coach Aun, one of the new forensics' teachers, students are given the opportunity to practice using the 7 Sā€™s on a weekly basis through mock crime scenes. Coach Aun stated that the class focuses alot on ā€œWhat to do at a crime scene, the 7 Sā€™s, securing and cataloging the crime scene.ā€ Going over these meticulous details is necessary for the complex investigations that take place, which leads to the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the crime scene. The art of forensics is utilizing these various sciences and properly following these steps to conclude the investigations.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Having the opportunity to imitate real world crime scenes is completely different than what students at St. Cloud High School are used to. Giving students this experience can give them an interest in the field of law and crime. For those who already have an interest in a career like this, it gives them great insight into what to expect when going into this field. Coach Aun shared that it is a helpful class because ā€œSome of them might go into law school or maybe they never thought about it and now they're thinking maybe I want to do this. Ultimately opportunity is why we have this class.ā€ Students having the opportunity of real-world applications and having interactive crime scenes given to them by the teachers gives them independence and a chance to use their critical thinking skills to solve real problems.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The new forensics class is a chance that the students at St. Cloud High School now have by being able to dig deep into the real-world, hands-on crime scenes, and expand their knowledge of science.
