YouTuber and lawyer, Lawby Mike is teaming up with creator Schlep to take action against the company, claiming it has failed to protect children from online predators and has punished those who try to expose the issue. Schlep, known for videos catching adults engaging in inappropriate conversations with minors on Roblox, was banned from the platform for violating its policy against vigilante groups.

      Despite repeated warnings, Roblox reportedly took no serious steps to improve safety. Law by Mike has announced plans to sue the company for negligence, pointing toward weak safety rules, insufficient moderation, and the platform’s failure to restrict adult access to children. “By teaming up with Schlep, Law by Mike aims to take Roblox to court over weak safety rules and failures to protect kids online,” reported Creator Handbook.

      The lawsuit is part of a growing trend of holding online platforms accountable for child safety. States such as Louisiana have also filed suits, claiming Roblox allows grooming and exploitation to go unchecked. These actions highlight the pressure on tech companies to prioritize the protection of children over profits, and the publicity of this controversy goes to show the importance of this issue. Even students at St. Cloud High School have heard the news, with Stefan Tavaras stating, “Yeah, I’ve seen it on social media, and I find it interesting.”

      Mrs. Paulino, a teacher at St. Cloud High School, explains her opinion on the platform. She states that she is aware of the recent lawsuit, and states, “I think it’s great. I think that it’s about time that someone does shut that down.” She elaborates on this by claiming that Roblox “should be responsible enough to…have some different features that can help kids not interact with those people.”  Her opinion on this matter aligns with that of many parents and players of the game. The uproar resulting from this controversy reflects a larger problem within the online community, and it is important for such large companies such as Roblox to implement features focused on protecting children.

      If Roblox continues to silence critics instead of improving safety, the consequences could reach far beyond this case. Creators, parents, and lawmakers are demanding change. The message from Law by Mike and Schlep is clear: silence isn’t safety, and inaction won’t be tolerated.
