It’s that time of year again! August kicked off the first month of school and with it, our annual Club Rush! Club Rush is an in-school event that introduces all the school’s clubs. Clubs, such as ROTC, Latinos in Action, and The Cloud News, just to name a few. It takes place in the courtyard during both lunches.

Students walked around the flagpole to explore their options as multiple clubs, a total of twenty-eight, were out advertising for potential members. This year there was a diverse selection of clubs. From Chess to sports like Lacrosse or Basketball, and new to the school, the Japanese trading card club. First Sergeant Cruz-Bianchi shared, “It was awesome seeing everyone representing their organization with pride.” This year there were unique, but interesting extracurricular choices for everyone.

In addition, Colonel Donnelly was DJing music for all to jam to and oversaw the raffle. Students were asked to turn in a completed punch card for the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a Dairy Queen gift card. Each club had their own way of bringing students to their tables, many gave out prizes, such as stickers, candy, and even hockey pucks. All of which made this year’s club rush impactful for many.

Many students who were here last year compared this year’s club rush to last year’s, and stated it was more organized and easier to navigate. A significant number of clubs got an increased attention due to the structured set-up. Most students were especially interested in the new Japanese Trading Card Club. Ramon Otero, a sophomore, stated “The Japanese Trading Card Club just caught my eye and turned out to be very interesting.” The JTCC is a club where students can play trading card games such as Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh, and the Magic of the Gatherings. They meet on Thursdays from 2:10 – 3:00 pm after school.

Ultimately, whether you were a sports or theatre fan, there was a club for everyone to join. Club Rush connected students together and made this year stand out from the rest.
