It is official: the 2022-2023 school year is officially coming to an end. The ending of this school year entails many things, however, the biggest component to the closing of any academic year is the graduation of the senior class. Saint Cloud High School is notorious for ensuring that our seniors get the ‘sendoff’ that the class deserves. During the end of the year, the staff and students create a series of events to celebrate all the challenging work that the seniors have accomplished throughout the years. A highly memorable event that Saint Cloud High School holds yearly is the Powderpuff Game.

The Powderpuff Game is a flag football game in which the Junior and Senior class can participate in. Although this event may seem relatively normal, it consists of a twist that many find to be enthralling. The girls are the flag football players, the boys are the cheerleaders, and the game is coached solely by students. Many students consider this event to be one of the most memorable events. This is a terrific way to start the end of their high school experience.

This powderpuff game is a memorable and exciting event. “It was fun being with the class of ‘23 and was funny watching all of the guys be in the cheer and dance costumes.” The outfits used were cheerleader uniforms and the Golden Girls performance costumes. Considering there are two sets of costumes the guys were split into two groups, Juniors, and Seniors. Both groups showed out with a hilarious yet surprising halftime performance. Many people like myself were unaware that there would be a surprise show, but were not disappointed. Abby Dombo, a junior that is on the Golden Girls Dance Team was the one who oversaw choreographing and setting up the dances for the boys' show says that “it was definitely memorable. The boys did really good at the performance and we got many good pictures with them leading up to powderpuff, I liked getting to know the boys and the coaches too and I look forward to it next year!” She says the only thing difficult about it was the boys memorizing the dances.

The best part about it, according to most seniors, was having fun with all their friends and peers. Even though they were in opposing teams it was still an amazing event that they all enjoyed being a part of.
